and so they pass on

the death of a family member. its always painful when all you want to do is curl up in a ball and cry yourself dry, but you still have to put your best face forward and hide away that vulnerable hurt being who cant stand on their own.
its an awful feeling, but sadly, everyone experiences it. all you can really do is remember the most perfect and delicate times, and lock the memories away in your mind to cheer you up at the funeral. but the irony is that as soon as you think about your loved one, let your mind dwindle to these precious moments, you cant breathe again, and you break down.
personally, i find music helpful. not the happy stuff, not the screaming, incomprehensible selections, but rather the raw, beautiful ballads that remind you that others are and have felt the same way that you do now. its a magical thing, music. it will suit your every mood, and find a way to comfort you.
so if youre feeling the same way, check out a few of these songs.

listen to:
  • remembering sunday, all time low
  • angels on the moon, thriving ivory
  • your guardian angel, red jumpsuit apparatus

Shiver, By: Maggie Stiefvater

the cold.
Grace has spent years watching the wolves in the woods behind her house. One yellow-eyed wolf watches back. He feels deeply familiar to her, but she doesn't know why.

the heat.
Sam lives two lives. As a wolf, he keeps the silent company of the girl he loves. And then, for a short time each year, he is human, never daring to talk to Grace...until now.

the shiver.
For Grace and Sam, love has always been kept at a distance. But once it's spoken, it cannot be denied. Sam must fight to stay human--and Grace must fight to keep him--even if it means taking on the scars of the past, the fragility of the present, and the impossibility of the future.

[From the cover slip]

After waiting four long and intensely boring weeks for this 390 page book too come out, I finally read it!!
Here's what I thought: Stiefvater's descriptors are poetically captivating and beautifully depictive. The characters are believable and enchanting, each indivdually different, yet all together cohesive. The story moves at a steady pase, the characters becoming more transparent as the novel draws to an end. Shiver is a sweet and endearing YA romance novel, ensnaring the reader from the first page.
Recomended for lovers of : Twilight, Blood and Chocolate

for all you music addicts

i really hate having music block [music block = inability to find decent music] .

having my iPod permanently glued to my ears, im always looking for new artists. i generally go through phases of music; one month itll be all about hardcore, the next about power pop, and on and on. this month is all about the awesome indie/pop dance music.
now, ive scoured the thousands of lists i normally have set aside for the occasions in which i go seeking some new stuff, and i cant find anything that stands out. ive found some stuff that sounds decent, but really, theres nothing that says "GET ME!" in my lists. and so the hunt continues, hopefully tomorrow will bring more luck.

if you ARE looking for some great stuff though. my most recent discoveries include artists like
  • The Dangerous Summer [listen to: The Permanent Rain]
  • Automatic Loveletter [listen to: Changing Skies]
  • The Toxic Airborne Event [listen to: Sometime Around Midnight]

First is the worst,,Second is the best,, Third is the one...??

Is that how it goes?..I'm split between wedding dress and polka dot dress...
Anyways, whoever came up with that genius chant was pretty smart.. first is always the worst... when blogging, that is.
My name is Rue. I'm a self-professed music addict, who buys more books than she can ever possibly read, and invents words. I love bad weather, the color grey (technically not a color...), and straws that bend. My favorite books are Speak, Wuthering Heights, and the Harry Potter Series. I don't have a favorite writer... it changes every hour or so..right now it's Maggie Stiefvater. I follow House like a religion, and Arrested Development like a way of life.
My co-blogger Raegan is my musical soul mate... or was,,..she started listening to some wierd stuff this summer..But still, she remains to be the most musically literate person I know.
Anyways, if you have a heart for books, music, art, and inexperienced teenage bloggers...welcome..and if not..well..er,.. find another blogger(s).

Keep living life right,
rue
